Inner Fauna
Since his appearance on earth, man continuously evolves. However, in many cases, his behavior remains primitive and instinctive. In what extend homo sapiens differs from the caveman or the animals? How often does human behavior derive from animal instincts rather than mature thinking? These observations formed my initial incentive to stage portraits of a human figure wearing an animal’s head replica. During the process of staging, these photographs became my shelter from an everyday routine- they almost developed into an escape from reality. This project unfolds as a series of self-portraits with a mood to abandon my real identity, and be self-sarcastic at the same time: it is always easier to grasp an instinctual and primordial element in other individuals, as we always tend to keep an idealized image of ourselves.
